Busy Kids is owned and operated by the Sonas Childcare Ltd. We employ over 110 professionals to help your little ones through their first few years including Level 9 and Level 8 Early Childhood Educators, Qualified Childcare Assistants, and a full-time Qualified Chef. Over the past 15 years, we have been caring for the children of Athlone, Lucan, Ballycummin, and Ennis Road in this time we have created a unique environment where your child’s can discover their talents, gain independence and develop socially and emotionally.

At Busy Kids, we are guided by Aistear and Siolta curriculum framework. Aistear has four themes:

* Well-being *Identity and Belonging *Communicating *Exploring & Thinking

Each theme is incorporated into your child’s daily learning. By allowing children to actively engage within the class allows for their individuality to emerge and to find their own interests. Your child will be encouraged to participate in all activities we have to offer such as arts & crafts, cookery, science experiments, daily outdoor activities alongside singing, communication, and music learning lifelong skills along the way. Children will also be encouraged to try new foods cooked fresh by our qualified chefs.

Our Lucan Childcare Facility was opened in 2003 and is managed by Jennifer Burke. Jennifer has been working at Busy Kids since 2007 and she has excellent knowledge and experience in childcare. A visit to Busy Kids Lucan will affirm the commitment to the provision of high quality childcare. We employ 24 professionals from a Chef to Level 9 Early Childhood Educators and all of our childcare team have a recognised childcare qualification.

Busy Kids Lucan have previously been awarded the Excellence Ireland Quality Associations standard for childcare and won the overall EIQA National Quality Award in 2006.

Busy Kids Lucan is a single story building with separate rooms for Babies, Toddlers, Wobblers, Preschoolers, ECCE classes and an Afterschool children.

Our Athlone Childcare facility opened in 2004. We are just 5 minutes outside Athlone town in Cloghanboy Estate near exit 10. Busy Kids Athlone is managed by Laura Garvey. Laura has been working at Busy Kids since 2017 and has excellent knowledge and experience in childcare.

Busy Kids Athlone have previously been awarded the Excellence Ireland Quality Associations standard for childcare and have been nominated for many awards including being nominated for an award in Leadership in Corporate Social Responsibility cateogry at the 2018 Athlone Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

Busy Kids Athlone is a two story building with separate rooms for Babies, Toddlers, Wobblers, Preschoolers, 2 ECCE classes and an Afterschool Room. A visit to Busy Kids Athlone will show the commitment to quality childcare and facilities. We currently employ 25 professionals from a Chef to Level 9 Early Childhood Educators. and all of our childcare team have a recognisable childcare qualification in Ireland.

Our Ballycummin Childcare facility opened in 2001. We are just 15 minutes outside Limerick City in Raheen, Co. Limerick. Busy Kids Ballycummin is managed by Miriam Kiely. Miriam has been working at Busy Kids since 2014 and has excellent knowledge and experience in childcare. Busy Kids Ballycummin have previously been awarded the Excellence Ireland Quality Associations standard for childcare.

Busy Kids Ballycummin is a two story building with wheel chair accessibility and a lift. We operate an open door facility where parents can pop in at any time of the day has a homely and welcoming atmosphere and there is a range of rooms where children of various ages can play and learn in a comfortable, clean and safe environment. A visit to Busy Kids Ballycummin will show the commitment to quality childcare and facilities. We employ 22 professionals from a Chef to Level 9 Early Childhood Educators.

Childcare Information (ECCE / NCS)

ECCE
All children can now benefit from a 2 free ECCE pre-school placement in the years before they commence national school. At Busy Kids we believe that these are highly important years in your child’ development and that each child deserves the opportunity to learn in a happy, safe and caring environment.

The Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Scheme provides early childhood care and education for children of pre-school age. The scheme is offered in early years settings (pre-schools, Montessori’s, creches, playgroups) for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, 38 weeks of the year.

All children are entitled to 2 full academic years on the ECCE scheme.

Children are eligible to start the ECCE scheme in the September of the year that they turn 3 years old. For example, a child turning 3 years old in 2019 can be registered on the ECCE scheme in September 2019.

NCS
The National Childcare Scheme is our pathway to truly accessible, affordable, quality childcare.

From October 2019 it will replace all previous targeted childcare programmes with a single, streamlined and user-friendly Scheme to help parents meet the cost of quality childcare.

For now existing childcare programmes will continue to operate* until the launch of the National Childcare Scheme. Applications for the current programmes can be made up until October 2019. No new applications for these programmes will be available after the National Childcare Scheme opens.

To make the transition as smooth as possible, families can choose to make the switch to the new Scheme immediately in October or remain on their current programme for one final programme year. The free preschool programme (also known as ECCE- the Early Childhood Care and Education programme) will not be affected.
